Beauty : Eco beauty goods

Bijgewerkt op: 14 sep 2020

These days you can't look away from documentaries talking about waste and the war on plastic. Landfills aren't able to keep up with the waste we produce. Some countries ship their waste to other countries where eventually the waste seeps into the earth or goes into the ocean. That's why it's important to be mindful of what we're consuming and how products are brought to us as consumers.

Plastic has many advantages however plastic is not bio degradable. The good thing is that a lot can be repurposed but not every plastic is recyclable. What scares me the most is that out of all that we throw away and sort out only a part of that can be recycles gets recycled. So that's why I like making small changes in my daily life to avoid extra waste. I no longer use cotton wads. Instead I use reusable ones that are washable. They come in many forms. I have round ones from Glov and a couple of cloths from Magnitone. I use less product to cleanse my face as the fabric does the extra work getting my skin clean.

Another item I've replaced is the original cotton swab. Since 2020 it's no longer allowed to produce cotton swabs with a plastic piece in the center. However you still use a lot of cotton swabs in your life. That's why I wanted to make the change with a reusable cotton swab or the occasional swab made out of bamboo. They come in two forms one is for the ears and the other one I got is for my beauty kit for getting rid of smudges. They come in a handy case for travel and are washable with water and soap.

Last item I use is a shampoo and conditioner bar from Foamie. They really thought outside the bottle with this one. The bars have cotton cord so you can hang them in the shower. You can also opt for the travel box to store it in there. I must say it's not super easy to use but it does what it's supposed to do. The bars do foam and clean my hair. The trick is to wet the bar and rub it in your hands and then rub it in your hair. It's just a different way of working but if it helps mother nature I'm all for doing the extra work. They come in many scents and tackle different hair goals. An extra plus is that the product is vegan and completely paraben, sulfate, silicone, ... free.

So these are my current favorites to help diminish the amount of waste. If you have any extra tips or tools you think I should get into feel free to contact me ! xoxo
